1 Electric Sun Sundown Earthquake 1979 Spalax 10
Electric Sun is a guitar/bass/drums power trio led by guitarist Uli Roth who was the Scorpions guitarist in the mid-1970's. Having not heard much 1970's Scorpions, I cannot say how similar the music might be, but, I do hear a lot of similarities to Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush.

2 Tangerine Dream Force Majeure (excerpt) Force Majeure 1979 Virgin Records 12 (Alan's)
"Tangerine Dream along with Klaus Schulze and others founded what has come to be known as the 'Berlin School' of electronic music. This is one of their underappreciated later 70's albums, made after the departure of Peter Baumann, and before the entrance of Johannes Schmolling. Somewhat unusual for them is that it features a real drummer. Guests also add flute and cello, and Froese plays a lot more guitar than usual. I think that makes this album sound like their most 'prog-like' work. Here is an excerpt from from the 'sidelong' title track." - Alan Mallery

3 Flaming Bess Tanz der Gotter (excerpt) Tanz der Gotter 1979 Moonlight 11
Flaming Bess released only this one obscure, but very fine, record. The CD is a long OOP limited edition of 1000, as is pretty difficult to find. There is some kind of story being told in spoken word between the songs, but otherwise the music is instrumental. The music bears some resemblence to the first Camel album particularly when the hammond organ and clean electric guitar run through some progressions. Guitar leads the melodic ideas of the band while the keyboards provide more of a supportive role. The instrumentation and sonorities remind me of the first Crucis album, as well.

4 Joachim Kuhn Band Orange Drive Sunshower 1978 WEA 9
A decent late 1970's fusion album with an all-star cast of Jan Akkerman (Focus) & Ray Gomez (Stanley Clarke) on guitars, Tony Newton (Tony Williams Lifetime) on bass and of course, Joachim Kuhn on keys. Joachim has a very long string of albums dating back to the early 60's, as well as dozens of collaborations and guest spots on mostly jazz/fusion albums. This is a pretty easy going and straight forward fusion with emphasis on Joachim's piano.

5 Popol Vuh Aguirre II Aguirre 1976 Spalax 11
Recorded between 1972 and 1974, the material on this album was not released until 1976 as the soundtrack to the movie Aguirre. Spacious music on mellotron, piano, electric guitar... Yet another great album by Popol Vuh.

6 Anyone's Daughter Adonis- Part 1: Come Away Adonis 1979 WMMS 11
Anyone's Daughter debuted in 1979 with this very well crafted symphonic album in the mold of Eloy, Novalis & Neuschwanstein. Their 2nd album from 1980 is far less interesting, while their 3rd album _Piktors Verwandlungen_ is perhaps their best.
