1 Campo di Marte Sesto Tempo Campo di Marte 1973 Mellow Records
An excellent and original album. Traces of Gentle Giant, King Crimson. Comparable, perhaps, to Semiramis. Lots of interesting twists and complexity. Very nice guitar playing. Recommended.

2 Picchio dal Pozzo Strativari Abbiamo Tutti i Suoi Problemi 1980 King Records
Second of 2 albums by this group. Firmly in the RIO with strong influences from Frank Zappa. I cannot help but wonder if Frank Zappa is really the first RIO musician. This CD is only out as a Japanese re-issue. The music is complex and rewards each listen with undiscovered intricacies.

3 St. Tropez Bollito misto Icarus 1978 Mellow Records
St Tropez is lead by ex-Celeste keyboardist Ciro Perino. I can hear some definate Jean-Michel Jarre inspired ambient synth sounds at the beginning of the album. The overall vibe of the album is much closer to Steve Hillage-era Gong with spacey female voices. The song featured here is a bit more upbeat than is common on the album, which is usually in more of a laid back space groove.

4 Sangiuliano Time Control Take Off 1978 SiWan
Very enjoyable electronic progressive with some additions of excellent female voices and occassional drums. Fans of Jean- Michel Jarre will enjoy this.

5 Area Diforisma Urbano Maledetti 1976 Cramps
This album starts off with some very strange vocalisations that remind me a little of the Tasmanian Devil of Loony Tunes cartoon fame. The album then launches into some funkified prog/fusion that reminds me Jeff Beck's 2 great fusion albums _Blow by Blow_ and _Wired_, especially in the Jan Hammer-ish keyboards. So, are you warming up to these guys yet? Area is highly recommended to those who are interested in challenging progressive fusion music.

6 Museo Rosenbach Superuomo Zarathustra 1973 BMG / Ricordi
Great melodies and compositions driven home with heavy keyboards, mellotron, and guitar. The vocals are quite good as well. Many people site this as one of their top favorite Italian prog albums. It is very easy to like this album. It is not particularly complex, jarring, or weird. Good clean fun.
