Almendra play a kind of progressive hard rock with some psychedelic touches (which is somewhat typical for South America). Bands such as Color Humano, Ave Rock, Invisible and Pescado Rabioso operate more or less in similar territory. The English bands Humble Pie, the Free or even the rock songs of the last Beatles albums should give an idea what to expect. Although occasionally extended, more complex musical developments occur, most of the album features fairly standard (hard) rock with a central role for electric guitar. What bothers me most is that some of their more interesting, i.e. progressive, musical ideas sound either unfinished or just stop too early. A decent album, but rather uneven in quality.
